Client briefs; do you brief your staff, clients and possible market in the right way? We’ve got a few thoughts on it at the moment. They aren’t in any way complete, or intended as something that we think will suit everyone, it’s just what we are thinking about at the moment….
Yes, we like Nemo in our house. In fact, that’s an understatement. We love the film and everything that goes with it. So when I found this little thing in my jeans today, it gave me the hook I’d been looking for, for my blog post. That’s why I took a photo next to my keyboard – to show you how small she is. She’s a little shoe thing that you put in your crocs.
Call it divine intervention, or, me being an untidy moo who shoves things in pockets and then forgets about them.
Anyway, Dory’s phrase throughout Nemo is “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming swimming on… ” And she repeats it over and over again, much to the annoyance of everyone else.
How is this relevant to my business and yours?
Because sometimes in business, you should make sure that you just keep on swimming, swimming swimming on. Of course it’s important in business to plan, innovate and grow. I get that and I do lots of it. But sometimes, it’s also good to work out what it is that you are good at – that you enjoy doing, that people respond well to and that is aligned to your general purpose and objectives.
And when you’ve worked that out – do it. And do it some more. And then – yes, do it even more. I know. It’s not revolutionary is it? But for those of you with an attention span like me and Dory from Nemo, it’s important to remember it, because it’s most likely a) what brings you your regular income and b) brings you new income which is just great in my book.
So what three things can I tell you that I am being “good at” this week?
1. Selling for the New Baby Guides
2. Chatting to people and making friends on facebook and twitter – the @thebabyshow and Baby Show Facebook Page is a great example of how my business is letting me do just that
3. Connecting people so they can mutually benefit – I’m just doing that with Sally from the Lime Mag and Debi Hogston of Water Babies and Sally from the Lime Mag again, with Louise Gibbs of Baby Signing Mummy.
Whilst I’ve no personal gain from #3 right now, I do benefit from #1 and #2, so I think that’s a fair way to go about things isn’t it? So I’m going to keep on doing those 3 things, because they are working.
What are you good at? What do you need to keep swimming on with?
