What happened to bring this about?
The Cheeky Wipes team didn’t know it was about to happen, and weren’t ready for what came from it. We noticed the post and the flood of response that came so quickly, and alerted Helen – their CEO – to it – via Facebook messenger. The problem was, Helen was a a birthday party, sans wifi. Cue a panic from Helen and us stepping in, to engage, answer and comment, as Cheeky Wipes on all the questions, comments and feedback that was happening on The Radford Family’s Facebook page and as well, on their own Cheeky Wipes UK Facebook page. We knew how to do this because we’ve known Helen and her team for years – we’ve done press releases, projects and the like for them, so we know how they roll. We didn’t make assumptions about it though, and checked with Helen on how she wanted it handling. There was so much to do, so we got stuck in…
We went to the Radford Family’s Facebook page, as Cheeky Wipes and started to comment, reply and engage as their page. We thanked the people who had waxed lyrical about Cheeky Wipes, the customer service they provide and the happy bottoms that have come about as a result of using the wipes. We answered questions about whether poo would float about in someone’s washing machine if they used them (No, it doesn’t). We chatted about bottom explosions, poonami and every other phrase imaginable for poo and poo related incidents. We shared our love of Coconut Oil – for bottoms, elbows, hair masques and facials. We had fun. We got involved and chatted. That was a good couple of hours on Saturday afternoon. Heck, we even facilitated someone in Australia making a purchase!
But then, people kept on chatting, engaging and replying to our replies, so back in we went on Sunday morning. And we’ve done the same again, this morning! It’s been nuts, but brilliant. Our final job will be to produce a stats and screenshots report for the Cheeky Wipes team, so that they can see the benefit of not just our involvement, but the short time span in which we replied, re engaged and truly kept a conversation going on a Facebook page with 155K of fans!We also shared the status onto the Cheeky Wipes UK page so that our own, established, community would be up to date on what was happening…
The traffic on the Cheeky Wipes website was up by four times what it usually is on a weekend. Dwell time is also seriously increased on what it usually is – because we were linking to a wide range of pages on their site. And they’ve arrived into the office this morning to find that they’ve got orders coming out of their ears, so there’s been a direct, commercial benefit and also, a huge increase in new, organically achieved followers and fans for their Facebook page.
“Liz and her team have helped me out with various Press Releases over the years and always done a fantastic job. Liz herself dropped me a line on Saturday afternoon to let me know that Cheeky Wipes had been mentioned on the Radford Family Facebook page and there was LOTS of interest. The timing was awful – I was out at a birthday party with my eldest son and couldn’t get internet access to enable me to answer all the questions and queries we had been receiving – but I knew it was really key to get engaged and start interacting with all the traffic right then and there.Liz offered to step in on my behalf and answer the queries, she really was my Social Media Super Hero as I am sure she has a million things she should be doing on a Saturday afternoon (including getting ready for an 80’s night – I have seen the crimped hair evidence!).The FB messages kept pouring in, right through til Sunday and Liz again offered to answer them on my behalf. I readily agreed – my parents were visiting from Northern Ireland and wouldn’t have been impressed if I had left them to sit in a corner with my PC!Our website page views were 4x up – and we saw a 30% increase in weekend sales which was just amazing. It would not have happened if Liz and her team had not been so ready and willing to step in to save my bacon!Liz and her team are definitely my Social Media WONDER WOMEN, thanks once again!”
