We’ve done our temporary overhaul of this website and the actual activity has made us realise that we aren’t entirely sure what we want our website to look and feel like. We know that we want it to be on wordpress, and ideally we want it to be a responsive theme and finally, we want it to be something that we can fiddle with at all. And it’s that last bit that’s been the problem.
I wanted to be able to update the website myself – to learn coding, to re size images and do all sorts of things that I don’t normally do. So I’ve been teaching myself, crashing things and getting people to help me and making do and mending. On the one hand, that’s to be applauded, because it’s something that I’ve always been good at – getting stuck in and having a go. But from a different perspective, it’s been something that has distracted me and caused a lot of trouble because I’ve gotten very annoyed when I’ve broken something. And then needed someone to help me fix it!
Moving on, I’m writing this blog because I wanted the site to acknowledge the changes that are happening within Weston Communications as a business, not just as a website. And they will continue to happen, because that’s the nature of the work we do. With this website, I’ll be making changes as long as I have a login and password for it – tho’ I do suspect that Hannah, Richard, Chelle, Tami and Katie might be plotting to change the password when I’m not looking….
Change is a good thing, and we have to embrace it, be prepared to learn, to start over and get on with it. No matter how many chocolate biscuits it makes us eat when we’re trying to put things back together.
I’m so conscious that I should practise what I preach and make sure that there is a call to action, or a purpose to this blog post. But I can’t think of one. What do you think it is?
